Fans Come Together in Liverpool For New Brian Epstein Statue

September 12, 2019

A new Brian Epstein statue is being proposed as a lasting tribute in Liverpool to the memory and legacy of the late Beatles Manager Brian Epstein who died 52 years ago on August 27, 1967. The standing statue of Brian Epstein has been designed by Andy Edwards, the same sculptor  who designed the four Beatles standing statues that have become a popular tourist attraction and landmark at PierHead since they were cast and installed in 2015 by Castle Arts Foundry. The idea for the iconic Liverpool Waterfront Beatles statues at Pier Head came from Chris Butler, managing director Castle Fine Art Foundry, see http://www.bronzefoundry.co.uk/WORKSPAGES/BEATLES/Beatles1.html and was generously funded by the Cavern Club where the Beatles played a total of 292 times, see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Beatles_at_The_Cavern_Club

Recently, Andy Edwards and Chris Butler displayed a larger than life bust of Brian Epstein sculpted by Andy at the recent International Beatleweek 2019 convention held in the Adelphi Hotel. A publicity launch is being planned for mid-day September 19, 2019, at the Epstein Theatre on Hanover Street on what would have been Brian Epstein’s 85th birthday. Andy believes this statue is long overdue and finds his inspiration from Brian Epstein whose vision, courage and ability to develop and transform original talent such as The Beatles, Cilla, Gerry and the Pacemakers from Liverpool into the world’s best known and most successful performing artists of all time. Moreover, Andrew says that,

"Brian Epstein’s performing artists singlehandedly changed popular culture in the sixties in the most revolutionary way, the very means of spreading ideas and joy through a whole new art form, pop culture." and that "Liverpool, having the honour of furnishing his birthplace, should not only bask in this legacy but also be proud in joining to create a permanent tribute and international landmark to a special one of our own and a true one off. “
