This is my favourite picture of our statues. Its by John Johnson. I've Photoshopped the colour out of the background though . . . it's more how I see them . . . John Lennon's looking for Brian.
I thought I'd share this page of my diary making the waterfront statues. It's a bit of a meditation.
"You know this isn’t really about the Beatles . . . . .
It’s about your mates. Because that’s how all this happened. We got channelled to do this because the times we are living in needed it to happen.
That’s how art works . . . whenever the times are out of joint and society is being drawn to make a succession of serious errors, when people are drifting astray . . . fortune favours brave energy, good intentions connect to other good intentions, powerful synchronicities start happening . . . and its friendship which saves us. The Beatles, the original four mates, have come back into light to restore the psychic equilibrium of the epoch no less.
This is properly a dream about a dream and like religion, a path to the truth. It presents itself simply in the way that nature allows a plant to grow. We just have to look out for and look after what we’re given.”
I can remember walking around the waterfront with the original little models and everybody wanted to talk to us, everybody’s got a Beatles story. Our image of them seems to bring past present and future together, like a time machine - resting in the pool of life (as Carl Jung called Liverpool).
And when the traveller (time traveller or otherwise) arrives in Liverpool where the ferry and ships come in, the first figures they might see day or night will be four faces who look like they belong there. That place needs to become a place of ritual.
People will meet always there and their consciousness will change. Their DNA will repair itself. Their imagination and their joy will expand. On birthdays, some people will come to scatter star shaped confetti; others will catch a falling star and put it in their pocket, to save it for a rainy day or some starless night.
Some will come wearing War is Over T-shirts, some will say we should have more Live Aid events like George started with his concert for Bangladesh. And some will say because of Paul that we should look at the way we treat animals because that reflects on how we treat each other. A place to come together, have a think, meditate, play and forget what time it is. And maybe dare to take these ideas on and do better."
Like John said (the one out of the bible)
“Most assuredly, I say to you, those who believe in Me, the works that I do they will do also; and greater works than these they will do”
